The bed, with its silver rims and realistic details, accommodates a toddler mattress and easily converts to hold a twin mattress, extending the life of this nighttime ride for toddlers age 2 to about age 10. A second model comes equipped with working headlights that turn on with a tap. Prices begin at $299.
The car bed goes on sale in the summer. Step2 unveiled the collection this week at the New York Toy Fair.
Besides the bed, the collection has several “trunk” storage options. The Corvette Tool Chest Dresser resembles a tool chest complete with racing decals for customization. Its suggested price is $110.
There also is a storage chest that has a shelf-top display and spacious internal storage that can house toys, clothes or books. It is priced at $65.
The Corvette Lift & Toll Toy Box has more than 3 feet of storage. It is made to help speed up the clean-up process. An easy-to-grasp lift handle offers the flexibility to transport anywhere, and durable molded wheels won’t scratch floors. It costs $40.
The entire line matches the design and color of the Corvette bed. All of the items, constructed of polyethylene and easy to clean, are expected to last through multiple children.
It’s a Chevy tradition to auction off the first of any new edition for a charitable cause, and the new 427 Convertible is no different. The first 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition – the fastest and most capable convertible in Corvette’s history – sold for $600,000 in the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale collector car auction Saturday.
The Corvette 427 Convertible, which arrives at U.S. Chevrolet dealers this summer, blends elements of the Z06 and ZR1 models. The Vehicle Identification Number ending in 001 was sold in the auction.
Its heart is the 427-cubic-inch (7.0L) LS7 engine from the Corvette Z06. Rated at 505 horsepower (377 kW) and 470 lb.-ft. of torque (637 Nm), it is the most powerful engine ever installed in a production Corvette convertible – and, like the Z06, the 427 Convertible is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.
Early 427-powered Corvettes, particularly convertibles, offered from 1966 to 1969 are some of the most-coveted and collectable Corvettes ever produced.
Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports teamed up for the auction, with four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon and team owner Rick Hendrick, to raise a total of $700,000 for the AARP’s Drive to End Hunger food relief program.
The Drive to End Hunger is part of a multi-year sponsorship for Gordon’s No. 24 Chevrolet. It calls on racing fans, corporations and charitable organizations to raise money, build awareness, and engage Americans who face the threat of hunger.

Chevy has confirmed that the 2014 model year will bring an all-new, seventh-generation Corvette. Until then, though, the bow-tie brand has put together a special Vette with a big-ass engine, as well as a paint-and-tape package to celebrate the nameplate’s 60th birthday. Big Engine, Big Sky
The number in the Corvette 427 convertible’s name pretty well sums up the car. It’s a Corvette convertible with a 427-cubic-inch—or 7.0-liter, in modern parlance—engine under the hood. Actually, the engine’s massive 7008-cubic-centimeter displacement converts to 427.7 cubic inches. While that rounds up to 428 cubes, Chevrolet calls it a 427 for nostalgic purposes to pay homage to the 427 big block that powered Vettes back in the day. Today’s “427,” called the LS7, has until now only been available in the Corvette Z06 coupe. It loses no power for its installation in the 427 convertible, meaning it’ll offer 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is the only available gearbox, and the driveline and rear axle are borrowed from the Z06, too. We hope the company has beefed up the rest of the convertible to handle the extra power, but the truth is that the regular 426- and 436-hp Vette convertibles have to be pretty sturdy already.
Many of the features that are either standard or available as options on the Z06 will be included on all 427 convertibles: Magnetic Ride Control, a trunk-mounted battery, special wheels (19-inchers up front, 20s in the rear), and Michelin PS2 tires. Carbon fiber is employed throughout the 427 convertible, including for the hood, fenders, and floor panels. As a result, Chevy says the Corvette 427 convertible weighs in at 3355 pounds—just 156 pounds more than a Z06 coupe.

2011 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R GT2.
Corvette Racing has opened a new chapter in its history as it competes in the GT class (formerly GT2) in the 2010 American Le Mans Series. Running in the series’ premier production-based category, the twin Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars will race against showroom rivals representing Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Ford.
The 2010 season marks Corvette Racing’s 12th year in international road racing. The team made its competition debut in February 1999 in the Daytona 24-hour race, finishing third and 12th. From that modest start, Corvette Racing has become one of the world’s most successful production sports car teams, winning eight consecutive ALMS GT1 manufacturers and team championships and seven straight ALMS GT1 drivers’ titles.
Corvette Racing won 78 of the 110 races it contested through October 2009. The team’s list of accomplishments includes 54 one-two finishes, six class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, seven class wins in the Sebring 12-hour enduro, seven class titles in the 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans, and an overall victory in the Daytona 24-hour race.
Based on the Corvette ZR1 supercar, the GT2 Corvette C6.R has strong links to the production version of America’s performance icon. The GT rules require the use of many production-based components, expanding the opportunities for the two-way transfer of technology between the race track and the showroom. The Corvette C6.R utilizes the ZR1′s body design, aerodynamic package, aluminum frame and chassis structure, steering system, windshield, and other components. The race team has prepared the cars for the rigors of endurance racing wîth safety and performance modifications as permitted by the rulebook. The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette ranks 2 out of 8 Luxury Sports Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 76 published reviews and test drives of the Chevrolet Corvette, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
Equipped with a 430-horsepower V8 engine and the ability to blast from 0 to 60 mph in just over four seconds, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is equipped to battle with high-end exotics — only it’s more practical and affordable.
Since its introduction in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette has combined sexy styling with high-end performance that still rivals the greatest (and most expensive) of sports cars. “Although it hasn’t been entirely modernized — leaf springs, anyone? — General Motors has whittled away at the car’s rough edges for well over half a century, and the result is one of the best all-around performance cars for the money,” writes Car and Driver.
The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette has simple controls, a large cargo hold (in the coupe) and great fuel economy. However, critics point out that the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette’s competitors offer more refined interior accommodations. Also, like most sports cars, its low-slung exterior design makes entering and exiting the cabin a challenge. Still, Chevrolet Corvette’s awesome performance abilities and legendary name overshadow these complaints.

1976 Chevrolet Corvette Concept information. Bill Mitchell was head of Design at General Motors from 1959 through 1977. During his career, he created the design for over 72.5 million automobiles produced by GM, including the 1963 Corvette Stingray and the 1970 Chevy Camaro. Mitchell spent the entirety of his 42 year career in automobile design at GM, eventually becoming Vice President of Design, a position he held for nearly two decades until his retirement in 1977.
Mitchell was a strong believer in the benefits of building ‘dream’ or ‘concept cars.’ He established the GM Advance Design Center, and gave his designers a great deal of creative freedom in their work. This 1976 Corvette, also known as ‘The Great White,’ is a one-of-a-kind, high-performance styling exercise built expressly for Mitchell. This highly customized Corvette features an all-aluminum 454 Z-1 block and modified L-88 drive train. The car was sold by GM to Mitchell after his retirement.

Chevrolet is marking its centennial this week, as the American auto giant celebrates exactly 100 years since its first car rolled off the production line. That model was known simply as a Chevrolet. The first of its kind, it wasn’t designated a model name. The 1911 Chevrolet even predated the famous “bowtie” emblem that would become synonymous with the brand – and which traces its origins to everything from a wallpaper pattern in a Paris hotel to the Swiss cross.
When it comes to Chevrolet, the one word that probably comes to mind is dominance. And if not, then it should, because Chevy has kept a firm grip on the American auto industry ever since their first models rolled off the line.
Drivers from every background depend on Chevy to give them what they need, from NASCAR champions to the everyday person who craves performance and dependability. Street-minded sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and trucks have all contributed to the patriotic success story that has made this brand so special. Maybe that’s one reason why Chevrolet owners treat their rides like members of the family. With that in mind, treating your own model correctly means finding the right Chevy Accessories and Parts that represent you the best way possible. After all, that is what it’s all about.
CARiD has the high-quality Chevy Accessories and parts you need, whether for replacements or upgrades, and at the prices that make it easy to see all of your dreams become a reality.
